Math 801

Continued fabrication exercises in section 5. All work involving the right triangular prism was due yesterday (pages 5-7 to 5-11). Today, we are going work on the surface area and circumference of the circle. We are also going to begin fabrication of the cylinder.

Assigned #’s 1-23 on page 25

Also completed #’s 36-42 on page 52.

And #’s 1-17 on page 54.

If time permits, we will begin a worksheet on scientific notation.

Continued work on Corel Presentations 12 assignment.

Also continued work on HTML programming.

The first 5 minute writing was completed yesterday.  Anyone who needs to catch up on their speed writings should do so today.

Continued fabrication of triangular prisms and the corresponding surface area and volume questions. These are due today.

Completed scientific notation of large numbers on pages 22-23.

Completed the final 3 minute speed trial (59) yesterday.

We will complete the first 5 minute writing tomorrow(writing #1).

Completed 1.1 (Estimating and Calculating  Square Roots) on pages 8-11 in Mathpower 9.

We did 1-17, 37-46, 47-54, and 55 a,b,c on pages 10 and 11.

We also completed 1-14 on page 13.

Tuesday December 9th, 2008 Day 4

Continued the fabrication unit(5).

Each section requires both problem solving and fabrication of various three dimensional objects.

ITC 401

Continued the final graphic assignment and also the Presentations 12 project.

I went over the basics of a slideshow.

Math 300

Reviewed graphing, slope, scatterplots, etc.

Began chapter one in Mathpower. Covered sections 1.1, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.5 (square roots, exponents, and exponent rules).

Tests on both Friday and Monday.

Monday December 8th, 2008 Day 3

Math 801

Went over costs associated with pouring a foundation for a 16′ x 20′ structure.

Begin section five on fabrication. The first assignment is constructing a rectangular prism.
ITC 401 and Math 300

Afternoon classes cancelled due to snow.

Math 300 students are reminded of testing later this week. Material covered will include:

slope, line of best fit, scatterplots, y-intercepts, graphing, etc.
